Since the release of the WiMAX module in early 2006, Forsk has been
continuously enhancing Atoll’s WiMAX functionality through close
technical cooperation with operators and equipment vendors.
The current version of the Atoll WiMAX module, 2.6,
fully supports the IEEE 802.16e standard for both fixed wireless and
mobile applications. It includes advanced features such as AAS (smart
antennas), MIMO and a Monte-Carlo simulator that enables traffic-based
analyses such as capacity planning and effective user-throughput
calculations.
This technical leadership has allowed Forsk to take
a significant market share of the WiMAX planning tool market, with a
growing installed base of equipment vendors and operators world-wide.
This WiMAX product development effort is in line
with Forsk’s strategy to support all major wireless technologies,
including GSM/GPRS/EDGE, UMTS/HSDPA-HSUPA, CDMA 2000 1xRTT/EV-DO, TD-SCDMA,
Microwave Links and WiMAX/BWA.
Forsk is an independent software company,
headquartered in Toulouse, France, that has provided software
solutions to the wireless communications industry since 1987. Forsk’s
radio planning tool, Atoll™, is in use by leading cellular operators
and equipment suppliers world-wide.
