Using Atoll to Plan NB-IoT Networks Webinar
The IoT network deployments are on the rise. Various IoT standards are available today supporting different deployment scenarios. To help our customers to select the right technology for their specific strategy as well as the most appropriate deployment configuration, Forsk provides a complete suite of Atoll modules for planning and optimizing the IoT networks.
The “Using Atoll for NB-IoT planning” follows the last year “Planning and optimising IoT networks with Atoll LPWA” webinar to introduce the Atoll NB-IoT module. It provides not only an overview of the newly released Atoll module but presents the complete Atoll solutions for planning IoT networks for all major IoT standards.
During this webinar, the following has been described and demonstrated using actual Atoll features:
Atoll IoT technologies overview and high accuracy propagation models
The related Atoll modules are introduced for 3GPP (NB-IoT, EC-GSM, LTE Cat M) as well as non-3GPP standards (LoRa, Sigfox, Ingenu, Wireless M-Bus, etc.). The advantages of Aster and Crosswave propagation models are given in the context of planning the IoT networks.
Atoll NB-IoT module as part of Atoll 3GPP IoT solutions
Atoll NB-IoT module is a new addition to the 3GPP based IoT dedicated Atoll modules. The 3GPP standards for IoT are presented for various use-cases.
Atoll NB-IoT description.
In this part, the NB-IoT module key aspects and its architecture is provided. The relation with the existing Atoll LTE module in terms of data exchange and licensing policy is also presented.
Atoll NB-IoT automatic planning and optimization features.
The NB-IoT network can be deployed in standalone, guard-band and in-band modes. The site selection for the network deployment is not a straightforward process especially when HW compatibility, roll-out strategy and cost implications are considered. The Atoll ACP is demonstrated for partial and full deployments over an existing LTE network. The AFP features for allocating NPCI independently and in conjunction with the existing LTE PCI plans are presented.
Atoll NB-IoT analysis
Atoll NB-IoT module offers various analysis in terms of coverage, quality and capacity key factors. Here, the related capabilities are described and presented using a demonstration project.
eMTC/LTE-M modelling using Atoll LTE
The mobile operators are considering different IoT solutions even within 3GPP standards. Atoll LTE module supports the eMTC planning. The eMTC features and settings are discussed in this section.
MTC/EC-GSM-IoT features provided by Atoll GSM module
For mobile operators considering the EC-GSM-IoT technology as an alternative for deploying an IoT network, we have provided an overview of the required parameters and related analysis with some demonstrations of the resulting service coverage in Atoll.
Throughout the webinar most of the Atoll modules features are briefly described and demonstrated on a simulated network.
